What To Do When Life Throws You Off Track: Finding Your Way Back Home

Life moves fast. Especially for those of us with fragile attention spans. Every shiny thing that passes feels worth our time. We get miles away from our paths before we realize that we’re off of our axis.

It’s time to get back.

Purpose Never Stops Calling Our Names

There is something that whispers your name in a crowd. A never-dying flame that burns through the rain, snow, and storms. It shines through it all. A burning desire that pierces all of the noise, leaving an undeniable scar of purpose on that hardened surface.

We all hear it. A voice that follows us to and from work; through the mundane moments of the day. It becomes the axis by which we balance life on. Sometimes we don’t even notice it. Sometimes we purposefully try to ignore it.

There’s another you inside of your soul. That version of yourself who shined before it became tainted with heartbreak. The one that saw the world for its opportunities, before getting beat up countless times by the brutal and punitive adult life. I agree with Friedrich Nietzsche; to life is to suffer. To survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.

But, there’s freedom in understanding that. That realization allows us to grab our lives by the palms and steer it against the darkness. Well, more so steered by a light that we’re committed to carrying. It illuminates our paths and creates a light that is contagious for our loved ones to find their ways as well.

Suffering is a Blessing (because the journey’s not over)

Life is suffering, but it gets better as we learn to accept that. Things will go wrong, people will stray away, and the clouds will roll in from time to time.

We may make a few wrong turns on our way to destiny.

Life is not over when we get off track. Being able to realize that we’ve lost our way is a solid first-step towards getting back in gear. It’s like looking at your GPS and realizing you’ve made a mistake. That realization creates room for re-routing and realignment (to the right path).

It’s human nature though – even for the most “successful”. Everyone loses their way a few times a week. The key is to never stop going back to your map and to find your way back.

Let’s keep going.
